CP24 Traffic Alert is a real-time personalized traffic reporting system for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) on your smartphone. With hands-free visual and audio feedback advising you of traffic conditions on your route, you’re always aware of any traffic congestion well in advance. Traffic Alert will change the way you drive!
Using anonymously collected data gathered from live users and the knowledge of your saved routes, CP24 Traffic Alert guides you to your destination with informative, real-time updates. It’s like having a personal traffic helicopter watching your route every time you get into your car.
You can also participate actively by reporting a traffic tip by pressing a button on you phone which will connect you to our traffic center where you can provide us with real-time update on the road conditions. Pros and cons of CP24 Traffic Alert app for iPhone and iPad
CP24 Traffic Alert app good for
It is so great, especially after I lost the google traffic on IOS 6.
the CP24 app has good ideas. Initially it feels like a typical map app with traffic information. Then one day it reported a slow down on hwy 400 due to people slowing down to watch the accident on the other direction. Now this is something new, isnt it? Not only did it report a slow-down it also gave the reason for it.
However, there are areas that need improvement. For example, once you pick a pre-recorded route, there is no easy way to cancel the route unless you pick another pre-recorded route. All I wanted to do is not to use any pre-selected route and just drive. Another example is that once you are on a route and it announced traffic alert, you have to wait for it to finish. If you select another route before the announcement is complete, you just have to wait. And it felt like eternity when you are in a hurry.
This app feels like they are onto something good, but the developer did not follow up to make it great.
UPDATE: 2012-10-30
There has been several updates since I left my comments. The developer not only addressed my complaints, but also added some new features. The most useful one is "find a route". Now you dont have a record a route. Just enter you destination and the program suggests one or more routes. Good stuff!
Info is very good.
I had entered "Toronto Pearson International Airport" from Mississauga, but I got to somewhere else,
Setup your route schedule in the notification centre and the app sends you notifications on your route before your departure time. Simply Awesome !!
I love this ap! The traffic alerts are super helpful and knowing what traffic is coming helps me plan my route accordingly! Awesome!
It is really very good app. Gives you real time update on traffic. You can record your route as well. Overall very good.
Some bad moments
Tries this app for the Hamilton area. Traffic was stopped after it stating that it was clear
Not sure what advantage this app has over other free traffic apps. It is very slow to start up (takes minutes to determine traffic), has only voice alerts (not the text of the alert), and there is no easy way to stop it (need to kill the app). Displayed "no traffic issues on your route", yet I was stuck for 10 minutes longer than usual in traffic eastbound on 401 in Ajax where it is always slow on the way home. Did not show the 2 separate accidents that were already on the tow trucks on my route prior to that traffic jam. Not much point to this app. Gets 2 stars because it is one star better than the Travellers Network app that was even worse to use. If you are using TN, then CP24 is a step up.
I have had this app on my phone for a few months and it is never accurate. According to this app there are never any issues ahead, yet I always am stuck.
Doesnt do anything outstanding. The audio reports are kind of cool but it seems a watered down version of other traffic apps available.
The ads are annoying, especially when driving. Just get to the point and tell me the relevant info. Bell makes enough money they can do this app without ads.
Program is unstable, crashes often, quite frustrating.
Dont work for most areas...
Montreal Canada is one of them!!!!!
